before & after: mapin' it!

I finished the vintage school desk. And LOVE it! I wasn't sure how it would turn out (or if it would at all), but I didn't have anything to lose and went with it.

after:

before:

I deterred from my original plan of using strips after I found this large vintage National Geographic map on Saturday.  Thankfully, I had just enough to cover all of the wood.

Can you find where you live?

And don't worry.  I covered it in several thin coats of Mod Podge, so it should be able to withstand many years of use.  :)

Like it?  This desk is available to purchase (ON SALE!!) through my etsy store:  http://www.etsy.com/shop/NouvelleVieFurniture

  5. I'm in love with this! In part because of the old school desk and of course the vintage map. I just posted a retro bedside table I covered with a map. Not as cool as your desk, but it was a sort of a test of the process. Inspiring to see it done so beautifully on the desk! Gives me hope for other projects!
